Learners Enjoy the Start of Fall at Willow View Farms
The following blog post is written entirely from excerpts of a class reflection written by LINC learners in a level 3/4 class. Thank you to Jas’ 3/4 class for sharing your thoughts about the experience!
I went to Willowview farm with my teacher and classmates on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025. This farm is located in Abbotsford. I went to Willowview farm with my friends by car. We can go there by own car because the bus can not go there. We traveled by carpool with other students. It took 9-10 minutes to get there. The farm is easy to find and there is free parking for visitors. It is free to enter the farm and markets.
This was my first time to visit a pumpkin and apple farm in Canada. When we arrived, the farm manager welcomed us and explained what we could do on the farm before we started. At the entrance, we saw beautiful sunflowers. We also saw a small tractor and enjoyed the peaceful farm atmosphere. We can enjoy the fresh air at the farm.
At the farm, I learned about farming and the pumpkin life cycle. Before we went to the field, Alba pulled a wagon to help people carry fruit. We saw many fruits there like pumpkin, apples, plum and pears. I picked some apples myself and then bought them and they were very delicious. We took so many different pictures of different colour pumpkins, goats and chickens. I tried using a tool called a drill. Also learned about how to feed animals. We also learned that farms are very important because they give us fresh food. The field was really big, so we couldn’t go through it all.
On the way the Farm’s Market, Mirna tried driving a tractor. We went into the Farm’s Market and weighed apples to pay. The staffs were friendly, they took souvenir pictures with us. At the end, we sat together and at fresh fruit. The weather was sunny and everyone was happy. Although it was only a short one-hour trip I thought it was very fun. I was tired, but very happy! It was a great experience. I very liked and I will go with my family next time.
