Language Instruction
for Newcomers to Canada
What is LINC?
The LINC program offers free ESL classes (CLB 1- CLB 8) to Canadian newcomers with Permanent Resident (PR) status. Classes are offered both morning and evening in Abbotsford. A morning class is also available in Mission. On-site childcare is available for morning classes at some locations.
Students will improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English. They will learn about Canada, becoming a citizen, politics, history and geography. They will also learn about working and living in Canada, rights and freedoms, housing, employment, and education.
When?
Classes run from September to June (continuous intake). Part-time morning and evening classes are available.
Who can join?
You must be at least 18 years old and have permanent resident status in Canada.
You are not eligible for LINC if you are a Canadian citizen, refugee claimant, or temporary resident (such as foreign student, foreign worker or visitor).
Canadian Citizens, refugee claimants, and temporary foreign workers may be eligible for our Access2English program. For more information click here.
Recent announcements from the federal government now make Ukrainian temporary residents that are in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) eligible for the LINC program. For more information click here.
