Access2English
What is Access2English?
The Access2English program pairs trained community volunteers with adults who want to improve their reading, writing, speaking or math skills, but who are unable to access literacy or ESL classes or programs.
Learners include adults whose native language is English as well as immigrants and newcomers for whom English is an additional language.
Volunteers and learner pairs arrange to get together at convenient locations in the community for up to four hours every week to work on meeting learner-set literacy goals for improved quality of life, employment, or self sufficiency.
Small group learning situations are also possible if learners in the group have similar skill sets.
Formal classes led by professional instructors are offered twice a week in the evenings for temporary foreign workers and naturalized Canadian citizens who are on a pathway to permanent residency or employment training
